CROCHET BEAD WORK

I learnt to crochet and knit from my mum and over the years I have thought of how to incorporate it into my bead work. After much research and prancing about I have carved a niche for INKA’s collection of beaded jewellery using the crochet method mostly using seed beads.
It is one of the methods I like working with most even though it can be time consuming sometimes. What makes it fun is the rhythm of work. Depending on the design to be made, there is a mix of colours of seed beads and the right tone of twine to match it. The most important is this aspect of colour blending. Even though you can hardly go wrong with colours crochet necklaces either make or unmake your outfit.

The best part of working with the crochet method is the ease at which you can vary your stitches and quantity of beads as well as sizes depending on the balance you want.

It is fun to make and no matter how chunky you want your necklace I must confess that it is always light to wear and a great match for any occasion all day long. I love love to work with crochet and make it has become a number one on the client list.

FASHION and CAREER MENTORING

As part of our business methods I place priority in mentoring and using every opportunity to nurture talents ideas especially in the fashion and creative arts. I have had wonderful opportunities to represent INKA Accessories on different platforms from grade 9 all the way through graduate school and to business entrepreneurs.
Each category comes with its own great reward and experience unlike the other.
The passion of growing the entrepreneurial attitude right from high school is an ongoing career guidance project which we continue to explore and seek expert and support from all interested to partner with us.

TASSEL EARRINGS

One of my friends has a thing for earrings and some of my clients are heavier on earrings
than they are on necklaces. I have made a lot of different varieties over the years but
one of my favourites is the tassel earring.

The variation of hot colours and lengths gives a lot of options and you can always have it
short or long. Tassels are always in fashion and can be beaded as well and capped with
beautiful stones.

PHOTOSHOOT DEC 2014

It’s been forever since I updated my blog and I must confess I feel terrible but somewhat

happy that I have the opportunity to cram so many goodies on here. So much has

happened which I wish to share with everyone.

THE LOOKS OF TIME

It's nice to remember friends and family even when you don't see their faces. My friend Celia was in Ghana for a couple of years and I never knew she was such a good photographer till she told me she wanted to use my work space for a photo contest. I was thrilled but we never got round to doing it. Better still we did get to take some awesome clear pictures of the pieces I had in the shop just before she left back to France for good. I have a folder of pictures which I have named after her and this wine piece brings back memories of the afternoon in front of the shop juggling around a white backdrop and hoping the sun stayed out for our lighting.

Looking through my stuff I found some old pictures of my friends who modeled for me when I just started making accessories. We would get together on Saturdays and I will have some juice and biscuits for us to nibble and pose for the camera. My dear friend and now one of Ghana's top music director, photographer and producer director, Nana Asihene took these shots just when he started playing with the camera. I like the idea that we worked together even when we knew very little but still very talented.

SEE WHO GRABS THE FIRST SLICE!

After a hard day's work, we met up to chill out a bit and enjoy some lovely pizza. See how hungry we were and who makes the first move. We had a fun time and I did meet some lovely people. We are scheduled to meet up again. "Work hard, play hard!"

DIY BEADED TOPS

Picked out a dark green top I had been hoarding for no reason and the weather has gone funny on the top bit that I had to think fast to cover up the tiny holes. I got my needle and thread and got to work with lime green beads and Voila! this is what we have. A beaded top sophisticated enough for a night out. We will be sharing more DIY tips, so don't get rid of too many of your old stuff especially your favourite ones.
